The staff:child ratio in our out of school section is 1:8 meaning that every 8 children are cared for by 1 adult.

The national care standards stipulate 10 children to 1 adult but we want to provide quality care and can only do so with a greater number of adults caring for your child.

We are allowed a maximum of 24 children per session in our section.

Our Out of School Club includes the After School Club and Holiday Care Club.  After School Sessions run Monday to Friday from 3.00pm - 6.00pm and is based st St. Michael's Church Hall which is situated across the road from Kids Ahoy.

School Collection

We collect from St. Michael's Primary School on foot.  Some children from other schools arrive by taxi that their parents have arranged.  Please inform staff which company you will use if this is your choice of transport.

Communication

We encourage open communications at all times to allow us to provide the best quality care for your child.  We have a variety of effective methods for communicating information to parents and carers.

Parent Time

When you collect your child, staff will have a breif conversation with you about how they have been.  However if you feel the need for an appointment this can be arranged with the team leader to discuss matters in private.

Daily Sheets

During the Holiday Club we provide daily sheets which are a summary of your child's day including when their basic needs were met.

Newsletters

These are issued regularly to keep you up to date.

Out of School Day

Children are provided with the opportunity to play, look at books, experience various messy play, physical play, explore and relax.  All of which can be done within Kids Ahoy, at St. Michael's church hall & garden even out on walks in the community.  Your child will be well supported, encouraged and praised.  There will be plenty of opportunities to make lots of new friends and chill out with them in our Out of School Club.

Homework

We are aware how homework is a good chance for precious parent and child time however today's hectic lifestyle often turns homework into a chore rather than a pleasure.  We could support you and your child by spending time in small groups listening to each other's reading books.  The children take pride in their abilities and love to entertain their peers.
