Additional Information

Opening Times

Kids Ahoy is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm, 51 weeks per year.

We are closed on the 25th and 26th December, 1st and 2nd January and Easter Monday whichever date this falls.

Collecting Children

If your child is being collected by someone who is not familiar to the nursery staff, then the person's name and a description must be passed on to a member of staff in your child's department. The details will be noted and used for future reference.

Car Parking

There is adequate parking at the DockPark to the rear of Kids Ahoy.  Here you can park and walk up through Swan’s Vennel safely to the building.

It is critical to the nursery and to ensure the safety of the children and parents that there is no parking at all in the private lane to the side of the building or on the pavement to the front of the building.

Valuables

Please do not send your child to nursery with toys, sweets or anything valuable. A 'comforter' is an exception to the rule.

Sun Cream

Kids Ahoy is a nut free zone, so we ask that you DO NOT apply your own sun cream to your child before coming to nursery.  Most sun cream has nuts as part of it's ingredients, this is why we only use our own nut free suncream.

Behaviour

At Kids Ahoy, if a child shows "challenging" behaviour, the child will be withdrawn from the situation and be given time to calm down and think about their actions. Staff will explain to the child why their behaviour is unacceptable as it is important children have the reasons behind decisions explained to them.

The development and ability of each child will always be taken into account when dealing with behaviour. Physical punishment or any treatment that distresses, humiliates or stigmatises a child will not be tolerated in any form at Kids Ahoy.

Staff will compliment children with positive behaviour i.e. praise, stickers, certificates and by doing this positive behaviour will be promoted.

Bullying

Everyone is treated equally, with respect and care.  This is also encouraged from all of the children.  So that we can be consistent, parent support and teamwork is important.  Bullying is not tolerated and will be dealt with seriously following our behaviour management policy.
